Book Title: Love Of My Life

Total Number of Pages:  276 pages

“Love of my life “ by Rohit Sharma is one of the books I read recently . The book is a romantic thriller about the main protagonist Virat Sing Rajput , a fearless Black Cat Commando in NSG and the love of his life, Pratishtha Sachdev.  The narration of the story is done beautifully. Especially the operations of Virat as commando are well described and seemed very authentic, the romantic thread is also interesting though some twists towards latter part may seem a  bit filmy . I really liked the way author has invested his thoughts in every details of the book like selecting the name of character or the cover of the book . He has named the main lady as Pratishtha which means reputation and the whole story is about fight for reinstating her reputation . Similarly the first half of book cover shows the love stuck couple and the other half shows the solo journey of Virat which is  a beautiful representation.

The story begins with Criminal Defense lawyer Vishnavi pandit’s attempt to meet Major Virat who is one of the heroes who saved Mumbai from attack of perpetrators , but is now in Tihar jail  based on  some strong accusations. Vaishnavi who feels something is not right about the case so far decides to take it up .

Pain, sometimes, is like Love . . .
It grows, until it becomes your Life.  This was true  about Virat .

Initially Virat is disinterested in saving himself, but then he finally share his story to Vishnavi for the sake of his love, Pratishtha . Virat had always loved Prathishtha but didn’t disclose it because of her love for Kabir. Life gives Virat a second chance when Kabir cheats on Pratishtha. During the broken phase of his friend Virat turns out to be her support system and eventually she realise Virat’s love for her . They end up falling in love and gets engaged .That’s when Kabir re enters , things take a dirty twist and  Pratishtha goes missing .What happens to Pratishtha? What was the reason for a national hero to turn into a villain ? Is Vaishnavi able to rescue Virat and what is her motive behind the mission ?. All of it is answered in the rest of the book.

The plot has a perfect blend of romance and thrill which makes it really strong . The author’s writing style and the way he expresses every emotions in few lines but with right usage of words is impressive . The thoughts of characters expressed through poems and soliloquys  are also interesting . The beginning of story is very gripping but after few chapters I felt it became  slightly slow and predictable  though the author successfully bring backs the interest later. The various twists  towards end  reminded of  Bollywood movies and I personally felt it could have been a little more subtle for a  book. The biggest strength of the book is its well defined characters . Major Virat is one of the finest characters  I have read recently. Really loved the way author has narrated the Mumbai attack keeping it as realistic as possible . The writer has manged to keep the pace needed for thriller  and makes one think parallelly as we read which is a major plus .The book is engaging and fits perfectly into romantic thriller genre . If you enjoy the particular genre then this is an interesting read with wonderful narration and some well-defined characters .
